I found One Yard Wonders at the thrift store. I had to try very hard not to squee loudly in the store when I found it.

So my WIPocalypse update!

This is a piece that I found after my last update. But I've added it to the list of doom now.

It doesn't look like I did much but I only had 5 leaves originally so it's much farther than it was. I was going along well with it until I got to the split stitch. I've decided I don't like split stitch at all. Mostly I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly and it's just kind of boring.

I haven't gotten much farther on anything else. I think I sewed one seam on my dinosaur project. So no picture of that. I'll probably have to update my list some more too since I keep stumbling across other projects that have fallen by the way side.

I should maybe add "updating blog" to my list as well! I always seem to think up good posts and projects when I am at work and of course am too tired when I get home to set everything up. So let's see if maybe next month I can do a wee bit better.

WIPocalypse already failing!

Um so. I apparently really need this SAL because I haven't even been able to finish this post! I haven't even got Christmas cards out which is beside the point but I might need to add them to the list.
I also have no progress pictures to post sadly. So instead I'm going to finish the post I was supposed to have done first which was a list of things I need to finish. *snicker* oh dear.

Also in case you are wondering what the WIPocalypse even is it is a fun sew along set up by Melissa at Measi's Musings As you know we are all going to die this year as predicted by the Mayan's!!!! And we may as well spend the time before this said catastrophe finishing up our crafty things. I actually have low hopes for my finishing of anything. Sadly impending doom doesn't seem to be a big motivator for me but I can hope a little.

So My list of things to finish this year. To be added too I'm sure as I dig up old projects from my room...

1. Giant Geisha cross-stitch
2. Hello Kitty rug
3. Tea Wallet for Grandma
4. Dragon plush
5. "Wink" Sweater even though it wont fit me
6. Nativity needlepoint ornament
7. Turtle blanket
8. Mrs. Snowman embroidery

Easy Christmas Wreaths

So as my mom and I are still cleaning out my Grandma's we found bags and bags of bows for presents. Like garbage bags full of them. And I was thinking we could use these for wreaths. So my mom took some and I collected the little ones and this is what we made.

My mom used silver and gold bows only on a straw wreath form and I used the tiny bows on a small Styrofoam form that I covered first in plastic wrap. With the small bows I was able to use the adhesive that comes already with the bows and they stuck fine to the plastic wrap. My mom used pins in some of hers to make them more secure.

I'm really pleased with both results. It was super fast to put together hardly took any materials especially if you happen to have a wreath form and lots of bows laying around. And now I'm thinking of all the other simple color schemes you could use for holidays. My mom already mentioned the heart shaped form would be nice covered in red and white for Valentine's day.
